Jhulan, Mithali praise India on becoming U19 Women's T20 WC

NEW DELHI: Legendary cricketers Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj highly lauded the Indian women's team as they became the U19 T20 World Cup champions.

India strolled to victory over England in the final with seven wickets in hand and six overs to spare, thanks to a great bowling effort followed by a patient run-chase.

Titas Sadhu and Archana Devi tore through England's top order, dropping them to 22/4 after six overs. Sadhu bowled four overs in a row, allowing only six runs and taking two wickets.

Jhulan stated on Twitter: "A historic victory. We are really proud of our U19 team. Titas delivered an outstanding performance. Congratulations to everyone who took part. This triumph will inspire millions "Jhulan posted on Twitter.

"CHAMPIONS! Congratulations, #TeamIndia! This is a huge accomplishment! This excellent victory demonstrates your dominance throughout the competition. The victory is all the more significant because it is the first-ever Women's #U19T20WorldCup. Enjoy every moment! "Mithali Raj wrote on behalf of India's captain.

Current Indian women's captain Harmanpreet Kaur and batter Smriti Mandhana lauded their junior counterparts as well.

"You've been an inspiration to us. You girls have brought honour to the country. We are immensely proud of everyone who participated in the global competition "Harmanpreet said.
