Joe Biden administration appoints Indian-Americans at key positions

Washington DC: The Joe Biden administration has appointed several Indian-Americans at important posts in the Energy Department.

Tarak Shah is appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Energy Department, which makes him the first Indian-American to serve in that position. Tanya Das will served as the Chief of Staff to the Office of Science even as Narayan Subramanian will take over the position of Legal Adviser in Office of General Counsel. According to news agency PTI, Shah said, "These talented and diverse public servants will deliver on President Biden's goal to tackle the climate crisis and build an equitable clean energy future."

Shah is a policy expert and was the personal lead of the climate and science team at the Biden-Harris transition. He has also worked as the Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Science and Energy at the department.On the other hand  Das has been a staff member of the US House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. An electrical engineer from the University of California, she has been associated with issues such as clean energy and manufacturing policy.
