England player rewarded for good performance, ECB gave central contract

LONDON: Ashes series has been completed recently between England and Australia. Many of the team players performed well. This includes the team's young fast bowler Jofra Archer. In view of Archer's impressive performance in the World Cup-2019 and Ashes series, the ECB has given him a central contract for Test and ODI cricket. The 24-year-old Archer, who took the most wickets for England in the World Cup, then took 22 wickets in four Tests against Australia at an average of 20-27.

Born in Barbados, Archer acquired the right to play for England last year. He is one of the 10 players who have been awarded Test contracts for the 2019-20 season. These players also include opener Rory Burns, who did well in the Ashes. Spinners Moin Ali and Adil Rashid were dropped from the Test contract, but they remain among the 12 players included in the limited-overs contract. The England Cricket Board has included these players in their contracts for Tests, ODIs and T20s. Jofra Archer is contracted for all three formats. The recent Ashes series ended with 2 - 2.
