John David Washington roped in for this project

Recently, John David has bagged a new project. American star John David Washington is set to be seen with Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in David O Russell's new project for New Regency. According to a leading entertainment daily, the film does not have a title or a logline, but the outlet can reveal it will shoot in Los Angeles in January. Three-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Chivo Lubezki also is aboard. The project is based on an original idea from the multihyphenate writer-director-producer.

News Regency and Matthew Budman will finance the flick. The yet-to-titled film will be distributed via New Regency under its deal with 20th Century Studios, owned by The Walt Disney Company. Earlier it was said that Michael B. Jordan would join the cast, but that is no longer the case. David O. Russell received Oscars nomination for direction and screenplay for both, American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook. His directorial projects include Spanking the Monkey, Flirting with Disaster, Three Kings, with Joy starring Jennifer Lawrence being her previous venture.

As reported by a leading entertainment daily, the 36-year-old actor John, whose big-screen breakout came in the Spike Lee-directed BlackKklansman, is currently onscreen starring in the Christopher Nolan-directed Tenet, and he also stars with Zendaya in the Sam Levinson-directed/scripted drama Malcolm & Marie. That black and white two-hander drama was shot during the pandemic and sold to Netflix in a USD 30 million deal amid heavy bidding, based on a sizzle reel shown to buyers during the Toronto Film Festival Market.
