Julia Roberts Set to Shine in Luca Guadagnino's Latest Thriller 'Facing the Shadows'

Los Angeles: Actress Julia Roberts is set to take on the lead role in director Luca Guadagnino's upcoming thriller 'After The Hunt', according to a report by Variety.

The movie's storyline revolves around Roberts portraying a college professor who faces a major dilemma when one of her top students accuses a colleague of wrongdoing. As she grapples with this challenging situation, her own troubled past threatens to resurface, as revealed by the Los Angeles-based publication.

Details about the other cast members for the film have not yet been revealed. Nora Garrett has written the screenplay, and the project has been picked up by Amazon MGM Studios.

This announcement follows Roberts' recent success with the Netflix thriller 'Leave the World Behind', which became one of the streaming platform's most-watched films during the holiday season. Directed by Sam Esmail, the post-apocalyptic thriller also starred Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

Meanwhile, Luca Guadagnino, known for his Oscar-nominated film 'Call Me by Your Name', has several other projects in the works.

Variety reports that he is currently working on 'Separate Rooms', an adaptation of the novel by the late Italian writer Pier Vittorio Tondelli. Discussions are underway for Josh O'Connor, known for his role in 'Challengers', to lead the cast of 'Separate Rooms', a poignant drama about an Italian writer grieving the loss of his boyfriend.

'Challengers', starring Zendaya and Mike Faist, is scheduled for release on April 26. Guadagnino's romantic drama 'Queer', set in Mexico and featuring Daniel Craig as an American expat who becomes enamored with a younger man, is anticipated to premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this year.
