BUBANESWAR: Starting from Friday (December 10 to 12), Rugby India, in collaboration with the Odisha government, Societe Generale, KIIT University, and the Odisha Rugby Football Association, will hold the 6th Junior National Rugby Sevens Championship at KIIT University.
A total of 24 States and connected Units from Rugby India will compete in this event, with the goal of claiming victory. Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Goa, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, and hosts Odisha are among the participating State teams.
Rugby India's chief executive officer, Nasser Hussain, stated, "Given the growing popularity of the sport across the country, this is an exceptionally exciting time for Rugby India. The fact that we have had such a large number of entries for this competition is proof of that." This major event promises to display some brilliant rugby throughout the weekend, with 24 State teams in the boy's division and 21 State teams in the girl's category, according to Hussain.
The events will be used to pick players for the Indian National U-18 and U-20 teams, which will compete in the Asian Rugby Championships later this year.
