The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Padma Shri Award to several talented people last yesterday and Monday. The list also included Karnataka transgender folk dancer Manjamma Jogathi who was awarded the Padma Shri. Manjamma is the first transgender woman to be awarded the Padma Shri Award. There were many who seemed annoyed with Manjamma's award. He has claimed that the government is using members of the LGBTQ community as pawns. Kangana Ranaut has now raised her voice and made her point. Speaking on Instagram, she said, 'Nationalism does not show gender and religion. It's about someone's own integrity and character.' Let me tell you that Kangana got Padma Shri last Monday and after receiving Padma Shri, she said, 'Many years ago when I started my career. So one question bothers me a lot. I used to ask myself that some people want money, some want fame and some have attention, so what do I want? But I knew there was a girl inside me who wanted to earn respect. I am grateful to all of you for this gift.' She further said, 'People often ask me what I will get by doing all this. Why do I do all this? This is not your job. So this award is my answer to all those questions. The honour I have received as Padma Shri will shut the mouths of many people.' You are all going to see Kangana in the Dhaakad film soon.
