Kangana Ranaut demands Rs 2crores as damages from BMC

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has sent a notice to BMC on Tuesday. In the notice, she has demanded compensation of Rs 2 crore for the vandalism done in her Manikarnika office. The BMC had bulldozered on Kangana's office citing illegal construction. On September 9, the BMC took action and vandalized Kangana's office.

When the matter reached the High Court, the court stayed the action of BMC. The Bollywood actress is also expected to meet PM Modi after sending the notice. It is being told that she can meet PM Modi regarding this case. Kangana has also met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari about this. Earlier, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale had also met the Governor and asked him to provide damages to Kangana Ranaut.

Lawyer and activist Abha Singh while talking to a private news channel on this matter said that "I agree that Kangana was targeted by BMC. She was not given proper time to react to the notice of illegal construction. As a result of the rhetoric between Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and actress Kangana Ranaut, BMC took action thereby claiming that Kangana's office was an illegal construction. The notice was posted 24 hours before the BMC's action and then in a single day her office was ransacked. Meanwhile, the matter came to the light and the Shiv Sena was severely criticized by opposition parties".
