New Delhi: Team India's star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has broken a big record of former captain Kapil Dev a day before. Ashwin broke Kapil Dev's record, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker for India. After breaking his record at the hands of Ashwin, Kapil Dev has made a big prediction about the spinner. Kapil Dev praised Ashwin's brilliant achievement and said that if the off-spinner had got more chances, he would have broken his record much earlier.
Kapil Dev said during an interview with Mid-Day Mill, "It's really a huge achievement, especially for the person who hasn't got many opportunities in recent times. If he had got those chances, he would have crossed the 434-wicket mark much earlier. I'm quite happy for him. Why should I put myself (second)? My time is gone. '
Ravichandran Ashwin completed his 436 wickets in Test cricket by catching Sri Lankan batsman Charith Asalanka at the hands of Virat Kohli at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Sunday. Anil Kumble now holds the record for most wickets for India. Kumble has taken 619 Test wickets for India. In future, if the 35-year-old Ashwin has to overtake Kumble, he will need more wickets. Kapil Dev has also supported the fact that Ashwin can achieve this milestone.
