BENGALURU: Within a week of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return from his foreign tour, the BJP will make a decision on the long-awaited cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters on Wednesday that Union Minister Amit Shah had promised him that he would discuss the matter in Delhi. Bommai had been told clearly by Amit Shah to leave cabinet expansion to the high command. According to sources, Amit Shah consoled Bommai after issues about his leadership were raised. According to sources, Shah told Bommai to "just focus on work." Chief Minister Bommai's body language seemed to be hinting a relief after the visit of Amit Shah. Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and State Party President Nalin Kumar Kateel have both passionately backed Bommai's leadership and said that there has been no change of leadership in the state. Bommai emphasised that the media was responsible for the formation of the job of Deputy Chief Minister in Karnataka. According to party sources, Amit Shah, who reviewed the topic in depth at the party's central committee meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday, has advised CM Bommai to focus on governance. At least ten new faces are expected to be inducted into the state cabinet, with more or less five senior cabinet ministers being replaced. It is yet unclear whether the cabinet will be expanded and overhauled in the same way that Gujarat did.
