Bangalore: Taking selfies near a waterfall in Karnataka took the lives of girls. Four girl students have died after slipping and falling into a waterfall while trying to take selfies. The incident took place on Saturday (Nov 26) afternoon at Kitavad falls near the border of Belagavi taluk. All the deceased students were residents of Belagavi and were studying in a madrasa located in Kamat Gali. They have been identified as Asiya Mujawar (17) of Ujjwal Nagar, Qudsia Hasan Patel (20) of Angol, Rukhsar Bhisti (20), and Tasmiya of Jatpat Colony in Belagavi. According to the report, a total of 40 students of the madrasa had come to visit Kitwad waterfall on Saturday morning. It is being told that the accident happened when they were standing near the waterfall and taking selfies. Meanwhile, 5 students fell into the water due to a loss of balance. No one, including those standing near the coast, knew how to swim, so the girl could not be saved. A girl was somehow rescued after she fell into the waterfall and was taken to a hospital. Doctors at the district hospital said her condition was stated to be critical. On hearing the news of the accident, a large number of people gathered at the district hospital. Police deployed additional security forces around the campus as a precautionary measure. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindra Gadadi and BIMS Hospital surgeon Annasaheb Patil rushed to the hospital to enquire about the situation.
