BENGALURU: The Karnataka government will begin administering "Booster Dose" or "Precaution Dose" vaccinations to health care workers, frontline workers, and people over the age of 60 who have co-morbidities on Monday. Six lakh health-care workers, seven lakh frontline workers, and eight lakh people over 60 with co-morbidities who have completed nine months or 39 weeks of vaccination will be given a "precaution dose." At the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Center in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will announce this precautionary dosage immunisation. The exercise is being carried out in accordance with the directives of the central government. With a target of 4.89 crore beneficiaries in the age range above 18 years, the state began Covid-19 vaccination on January 16, 2021, and has vaccinated 4.8 crore (99 percent) with the first dose and 3.9 crore (81 percent) with the second dosage. Vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 years has been available since January 3. Karnataka has vaccinated 15.5 lakh (49 percent) of the target number of 31.75 lakh beneficiaries with the first dosage.
