Karnataka by-election: Congress accepts defeat; people have accepted the defectors, says DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru: The future of BS Yeddyurappa government of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka is to be determined today. By-elections were held on December 5 on 15 assembly seats in the state, whose results are to be declared today. To remain in government, the BJP must win more than 7 seats. In the trend, BJP is leading in 12 seats.

On this, Congress leader DK Shivkumar has said that we have to agree with the mandate of the voters of these 15 assembly constituencies. People have accepted defective leaders. We have accepted defeat, I do not think we will have to despair. BJP has an edge over 11 of the 15 seats in Karnataka. BJP's IT cell in-charge Amit Malviya said that the BJP is getting a huge lead in the Karnataka by-election, the huge mandate that the BJP got during the Vidhan Sabha elections in Karnataka is being reiterated, this increase to the Congress, JDS, Shiv Sena and NCP. It is giving a clear message that do not disturb the mandate of the people.

Let me tell you that after the disqualification of 17 rebel candidates of Congress and JDS, by-elections are being held to fill the vacancy. The HD coalition government led by HD Kumaraswamy fell in July after the rebellion of these 17 MLAs.
