Karnataka HM K Sudhakar tests Covid positive

BANGALORE: K. Sudhakar, the Karnataka Health Minister, has tested positive for Covid. 

"I have tested positive for Covid-19, despite being uninfected through three waves of pandemic," he wrote on Twitter. "I have moderate symptoms and will home-isolate myself and follow all protocols." "I'm grateful that I'm fully vaccinated," he said late Thursday. "Request that anybody who has come into contact with me in the last several days get tested," he said.  Meanwhile, in the previous 24 hours, 297 new Covid cases have been registered in the state. Despite the fact that no deaths have been reported, the positive rate has risen to 1.45%.

There are 2,204 current cases in the state, with 20,380 tests completed. A total of 187 people have recovered completely. According to information released by the health department, Bengaluru Urban has registered 276 new Covid cases, with a total of 2,091 positive cases in the city.  The unexpected increase in Covid cases in neighbouring states of Kerala and Maharashtra has also alarmed the Karnataka authorities.

According to the health department's records, Karnataka has reported 178 new Covid cases as of Tuesday night. The overall positive rate for the day was 0.89 percent.
