Kashmir: A shocking incident emerged from the Sumbal area of Kashmir after a three-year-old was allegedly raped by a local. The victim was allegedly raped by a 27-year-old man. The accused has been identified as Tahir Ahmed Mir. A complaint was lodged against the accused by the family of the victim. The police claimed that they arrested the accused and were investigating him. The Jammu and Kashmir police formed a Special Investigation Team (STI) to investigate the incident. After the incident came to the light, the local residents staged protests and blocked the Srinagar-Baramulla Highway. The protesters demanded fast-track investigation and punishment for the accused. After the protest went out of hand, the police used tear smoke shells to control them. Furious locals, with posters and placards in their hands, shouted slogans like "Girls are not toys" and "We want justice". Locals demanded capital punishment of the accused. The accused was booked under Section 363, Section 342 and Section 376 of the RPC.
