Kejriwal Celebrates 55th Birthday, Calls for Quality Education Pledge

NEW DELHI: On his 55th birthday, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, expressed his longing for his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, who he claims is unjustly incarcerated. Kejriwal took to the social media platform "X," formerly known as Twitter, to not only share his sentiments but also to rally citizens toward a collective commitment to foster a robust educational environment.

"Today marks my birthday, and I've been receiving numerous well-wishes. I deeply miss Manish on this occasion. He is ensnared in an unjustified legal predicament. Let us join hands today, pledging to harness our collective potential in ensuring that every child born in India receives an unparalleled quality of education," Kejriwal conveyed.

He further emphasized the transformative impact of education, viewing it as the cornerstone for a fortified India and the realization of the nation's aspiration to attain the topmost position. Kejriwal's party, AAP, underlined, "This endeavor will not only bring fruition to our dreams but also light up Manish's spirits."

In a separate context, Atishi, a cabinet minister in Delhi, shared her Independence Day felicitations while expressing hope for Sisodia's prompt release. She remarked, "Even on this Independence Day, the struggle against the dominance of a select few persists. Manish Sisodia ji has steered the destinies of countless children in Delhi. Today marks 170 days since he was arbitrarily detained without justification. Happy Independence Day, Sir. We anticipate your swift return."

Regarding the arrest of Manish Sisodia, who was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 9 in connection with the liquor policy case, the Supreme Court of India declined his plea for interim bail in two Delhi excise policy cases under investigation by the CBI and ED. The top court has allowed the ED more time to present its response to Sisodia's bail request and has rescheduled the hearing for September 4. Sisodia's plea cites his wife's deteriorating health as a basis for his temporary release.

In the midst of these developments, Prime Minister Modi extended his birthday greetings to the Chief Minister of Delhi. In a tweet, he conveyed, "Wishing a happy birthday to Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal Ji. May he enjoy a long life and excellent health."
