Kerala Congress PC Thomas faction likely to join UDF

In a big jolt to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Kerala Congress PC Thomas faction has determined to leave the NDA in the state and join the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). Kerala Congress P C Thomas faction is all set to join the United Democratic Front soon and accepted the demand of the Congress that he should join the Front without any conditions. Thomas will hold discussions with UDF leadership in the coming days. With Kerala Congress (M), led by Jose K Mani leaving the Front, UDF is of the view that allying with Thomas will prove beneficial for it, sources said on Sunday, 25 October.

Speaking to ANI, PC Thomas stated that as per the understanding reached by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), and later discussion taken up with BJP leader Amit Shah it was promised that his party would get the promised posts. Official announcement today quotes - No seats, that were promised by NDA, were given to us. We are left with no option but to quit NDA. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has welcomed us to UDF.

The recent statement of Thomas that he was not getting the representation he deserves in National Democratic Alliance was being seen to be a part of his plan to join the Front. Thomas was distancing himself from National Democratic Alliance after he failed to get the board and corporation positions he was promised. Thomas has been trying to join United Democratic Front since then. The agreement is to cooperate in the local elections.  It is also learnt that United Democratic Front has promised him a seat in the Assembly elections.
