Controversial statement of Kerala Congress president, says this about state health minister

Thiruvananthapuram: M. Ramachandran, president of the state unit of Congress in Kerala, on Friday gave an objectionable statement saying that the health minister of the state K.M. K. Shailaja wants to win the title of 'Kovid Rani'. Following this statement by Ramachandran, there has been a strong reaction from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M). Ramachandran gave objectionable statements during the protest by Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) termed Ramachandran's statement as gender discriminatory and asked him to publicly apologize for this. Please tell that Ramachandran also said that during the spread of Nipah virus, Shailaja became a 'guest artist' in Kozhikode and tried to become a 'Nipah princess'.

State Finance Minister TM Thomas Isaac responded to Ramachandran's statement and wrote on Twitter, "KPCC president is telling Kerala Health Minister Shailaja that Nipah princess is now trying to become Kovid queen." Can any leader fall so low? All this, Shailaja and the compliment that the Kerala government has received will not be less than that to deal with the epidemic. Senior CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat strongly condemned Ramachandran's statement, saying such a statement reflects gender discrimination.
