Will third wave of corona come from Kerala? Over 20000 new patients found for 6th consecutive day

Kochi: Corona cases in Kerala are on the rise rapidly. The state has reported 20,728 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of infected to 34,11,489. The death toll from the epidemic rose to 16,837 after 56 more patients died. Amidst the ever-increasing corona cases in Kerala, the question arises whether the third wave across the country will spread from Kerala itself.

A statement issued by the state government said today is the sixth consecutive day that more than 20,000 new cases of corona infection have been reported in the state. The state has registered 1,28,373 cases of the infection since July 27. The statement said that 17,792 patients have recovered since Saturday, taking the total number of healthy people to 32,26,761. At present, 1,67,379 patients are undergoing treatment here. The statement said the highest number of 3,770 cases have been registered from Malappuram. This has been followed by 2,689 cases from Thrissur, 2,434 from Kozhikode, 2,246 from Ernakulam. 68 of the new patients are health workers.

According to data released by the Health Ministry on Monday, 40,134 new corona cases have been registered and 422 people have died in the country in the last 24 hours. While 36,946 people have recovered from the hospital and returned home. With the discovery of new corona patients, the total number of infected people in the country has now gone up to 316 lakh 95 thousand 958, the active cases in the country are now 4,13,718 and 3,08,57,467 people have recovered.
