THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Health Minister Veena George cautioned on Wednesday that the state's current Covid situation is dangerous and appears to have spread like wildfire, while the Congress party accused the state administration and the CPI-M for failing to rise to the occasion. The number of Covid cases has surged in the last week, with the test positivity rate in the state jumping to 35%. On Tuesday, over 28,000 new cases were added, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 1,42,512. Clusters have appeared at educational institutions, the State Secretariat, police stations, and even health centres, causing widespread panic, while Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is undergoing medical treatment in the United States. But, putting on a brave face, George stated that everyone must work together to ensure that this phase is completed safely. "The situation is serious, and the spread is wide, therefore everyone will have to work together to get through this phase, putting aside all other thoughts. The requirement of the hour is to guarantee that everyone follows the instructions and guidelines with extreme caution. N95 masks must be worn at all times, and the fundamentals must not be broken "George remarked.
