Kerala: Legendary artist Vasudevan Namboothiri passes away

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned artist Karuvattu Mana Vasudevan Namboothiri, widely known as Artist Namboothiri, passed away on a somber Friday morning, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. At the age of 98, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment for age-related ailments at a private hospital in Malappuram district.

Artist Namboothiri's contribution to the creative realm was unparalleled. He graced the pages of various newspapers and left an indelible mark as an art director in a few distinguished films. Through his exceptional talent, he brought to life numerous significant characters in the realm of Malayalam cinema.

The news of his demise has stirred deep emotions, prompting heartfelt condolences from esteemed figures. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Legislative Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer, and Union Minister for State V Muraleedharan expressed their profound grief over the loss.

The passing of the legendary artist also garnered sorrowful remarks from Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. In a tweet, Tharoor mourned the departure of the revered Kerala artist, highlighting his extraordinary journey. Namboothiri's illustrations, renowned across the state, were primarily composed in black and white.
