Kerala's new cabinet announced, place for all new faces except CM Vijayan

Kochi: The new cabinet has been announced in Kerala. The state committee has appointed Pinarayi Vijayan as the leader and chief minister of the parliamentary party of CPI (M). The party has given information about this in a statement. This new cabinet has all the new faces except just CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

The statement further said that MV Govindan, K Radhakrishnan, KN Balagopal, P Rajiv, VN Wasavan, Saji Cherian, V Shivankutty, Mohammad Riyas, Dr R Bindu, Veena George and V Abdul Rahman have been given ministerial berths. According to the statement, "All the current ministers including Health Minister KK Selja have been removed. Shailaja, who is also a retired teacher, became popular in the state of Kerala after doing a great job in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the early stages of the epidemic. He had done a fantastic job on the prevention of Nipah virus before. Kerala had twice suffered from nipah virus in 2018 and 2019. Selja was highly praised for her prompt action in tracking, isolation and prevention of the spread of the corona virus.

The second Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala is likely to take oath on May 20. The swearing-in ceremony of the new Left government will be with limited invitees in view of the Corona situation. The LDF has retained power in Kerala by defeating its rivals- the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the BJP-NDA- by winning 99 seats. While UDF managed to win just 41 seats, the saffron front failed to win a single seat in the elections.
