The final decision on reopening schools after 9 months of shutting in the wake of Covid- 19 spread will be taken on December 17. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called a high-level meeting which will be attended by General Education Minister C Raveendranath and department officials. The classes are likely to START in January first week. The government is considering reopening schools that were closed following the Covid expansion. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan convened a high-level meeting on the 17th to take a decision in this regard. The meeting will be attended by ministers and top officials. The expert committee has recommended that the schools be reopened by early January. General examinations are required in Class X and Plus Two. Practical classes should also be conducted. It was in this context that the meeting was called to discuss the reopening of schools. Earlier this month, the government had directed that 17 to half of the teachers should come to schools this month. The Central Government had given permission for the reopening of schools in the last concessions granted under the Kovid regulations. But no state has taken a decision on this. The Tamil Nadu government decided to open the school on November 16 but later abandoned it. In Kerala, the government had given permission to open tuition centers, computer centers and dance schools with restrictions. This was followed by the opening of schools.
