Kerala to Get New Vande Bharat Coaches as a Special Diwali Gift from PM Modi

Kerala is set to receive a Diwali gift in the form of brand-new Vande Bharat coaches, enhancing the current train services in the state. a statement from the  Indian Railways sources read. The new coaches will soon get, adding capacity to the high-speed trains already serving Kerala’s residents.

Currently, two pairs of Vande Bharat trains operate in Kerala: one connecting Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore and the other linking Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod. The Mangalore service, which currently operates with eight coaches, will soon expand to 16. Meanwhile, the Kasargod route, presently running with 16 coaches, will increase to a total of 20.

These upgrades will benefit travelers by maintaining Vande Bharat’s impressive travel time of 8 hours and 35 minutes between Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore. In comparison, the next fastest train on this route takes nearly 13 hours, while other services take close to 15 hours, making Vande Bharat the preferred choice for travelers.

Since their launch, the Vande Bharat trains in Kerala have seen full occupancy, despite higher ticket prices. Their popularity has even led to the introduction of a third Vande Bharat service, which connects Bengaluru to Kochi three times a week. Vande Bharat trains remain unmatched in speed across their routes, with the New Delhi-Varanasi route holding the highest average speed at 95 km/hour.
