Khwaja Bilal Mansoor Sethi estimates that the city of Karachi, with a population of two crores, has about 300 lions, placed on gardens, rooftop cages or farmhouses in a notorious city for lack of heavy traffic, high-pitch infrastructure and greenery.

Of the more than 4,000 animals collected in recent years, Khwaja calls some of his lions and a tiger a 'Crown Jewel'. According to Khwaja, who has a collection of 800 different species of animals, the zoo is not designed for status or reputation, but because of his love for pets. "We are the problem of Pakistanis... When our heart is soft, very soft, and when it is strict, it becomes very strict..."
