KXIP changes name before IPL auction, now team to be recognized by this new name

New Delhi: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has changed its name before IPL auction 2021 to be held on 18 February. This team will be named Punjab Kings in the next season of IPL. A source giving information confirms what BCCI has said, 'The team was thinking about changing the name for a long time and felt that it would be appropriate to do it before this IPL. It is not a sudden decision.'

The team of Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul have not been able to win the IPL title even once. The team was runner-up once and came third once. In the auction of IPL 2021, Kings XI Punjab will buy the newest players. Actually, this team has the highest amount of 53.20 crores in its purse. It is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which has Rs 35.90 crore, and Rajasthan Royals Rs 34.85 crore.

Kings XI Punjab has released a total of 9 players including Glenn Maxwell. Head coach Anil Kumble will try to buy good players in the auction to build a strong team to win IPL 2021.

Released Players: Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Karun Nair, Hardas Villoin, Jagdish Suchit, Mujib ur Rehman, Jimmy Neesham, Krishna Gautam, Tajinder Singh.

Retain Players: KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Puran, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Prabhasimran Singh, Mohammed Shami, Chris Jordan, Darshan Nalakande, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, Ishan Porrell.
