Kacheguda: 50 per cent tariff concession has been given to freight customers under the 'Operation Greens - Top to Total' scheme by the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Under which, for the first time on Tuesday, 284 tonnes of onions loaded in 12 parcel vans (VPUs) from Kacheguda station were transported to Agartala railway station in Tripura. The total revenue generated through Kisan Rail is Rs 18.3 lakh. In fact, this is the first Kisan Rail in Hyderabad region, which is trying its best to take forward the Kisan Rail concept launched by Railways in collaboration with the Ministry to promote the agriculture sector and farming community. The Business Development Units (BDU) team of SCR Headquarters and Divisional Officers have been successful in explaining the benefits of Kisan Rail to the freight customers. “Kisan Rail has helped farmers, traders and other cargo aggregators to transport their products to any railway station with significantly less freight traffic. These efforts resulted in the first Kisan Rail transport from Kacheguda to the North-East Where there is a lot of demand for onions,” said a senior SCR official. Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway, lauded the Hyderabad Divisional officials for their efforts in getting the new item for shipment from Kacheguda through Kisan Rail, which is in the heart of the city. He said that the zone is always ready to provide any kind of assistance to the farmers and traders in the transportation of Kisan Rail from any suitable station of the zone to the freight customers.
