Know Gandhi #NAME?'s first and last experience related to cinema

Mahatma Gandhi, whom we fondly call Bapu, was born on 2 October in Porbandar, Gujarat. He not only dedicated his entire life to bring freedom to the country, but his ideals inspire us even today. But do you know that Mahatma Gandhi saw only one film in his life? And that too he could not watch it completely.

Gandhiji's first and last experience related to cinema :

Mahatma Gandhi was not particularly interested in cinema. He did not consider films as a means of entertainment. But once such an opportunity came when he too reached the theatre to watch a film. The name of this film was 'Ramrajya', which was released in 1943. The special thing is that this film was made around his ideals, in which Ramrajya and an ideal society were imagined.

Why did Gandhiji watch the film 'Ramrajya'?:  Movies were never a priority for Mahatma Gandhi. But when director Vijay Bhatt made a film named 'Ramrajya', which was based on the ideals of Bapu, then Gandhiji decided to watch this film. Everyone hoped that this film would perhaps change Gandhiji's attitude towards cinema.

Gandhi ji left the film incomplete and returned:  Gandhi ji did watch the film, but the interesting thing is that he came out of the theatre after watching half the film. It is said that the film was not in line with his ideas or he did not like this medium. After this, Bapu never watched any film. This was the first and last time when Mahatma Gandhi went to a theatre to watch a film.

Relationship between Gandhi and cinema:  Although Mahatma Gandhi never gave importance to cinema, many films based on his life and thoughts were made in India and abroad. These films won many awards and were also successful at the box office. Still, Gandhi had a different approach towards cinema. He believed that cinema did not have much positive impact on society, so he kept a distance from it.
