New Delhi: Today is the birth anniversary of Ramabai Ambedkar, the wife of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, who contributed significantly in the making of the Constitution of India. Ramabai Ambedkar was born on 7 February 1898. She has been one of the biggest inspirations for social justice Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. She came from a humble background and was the second child of Bhiku Datare Valangkar and Rukmini. She is still remembered by the name of Ramai or Mata Ram. Ramabai was born in a small village called Dabhol in Maharashtra and was married at the age of nine to Bhimrao Ambedkar. Ramai is a 1992 drama directed by Ashok Gawli.
