Every year 'World Ocean Day' is celebrated on 8 June. In 1992, it was decided to celebrate World Ocean Day at the Earth Planets Forum in Rio de Janeiro, then after the recognition by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008, Ocean Day began to be celebrated worldwide every year from 2009. Every year a new theme is set for the celebration of this day. In 2018, the theme of the day was 'Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean' and the theme of 'Gender and Ocean' on World Ocean Day on 2019 last year. At the same time, the theme of World Ocean Day 2020 this year is 'Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean'. Innovation - is a dynamic term related to the introduction of new methods, ideas or products, which is fundamentally full of hope. 'World Ocean Day' makes people aware to understand the importance of oceans and related topics, food security, biodiversity, ecological balance, use of marine resources, climate change etc. We already know that the whole world rests on the strength of the oceans, about 70 percent of the Earth is surrounded by oceans. Oceans affect not only our life but also the entire earth and environment. About 97 percent of all the water available on Earth is in the oceans. 70 percent of the oxygen we need to breathe is produced by the oceans. The ocean is a storehouse of immense biodiversity on Earth. It is estimated that only one million species can be present inside only one ocean. While understanding the importance of oceans in life, we must definitely focus on keeping the existence of oceans intact. Presently, the impact of human activities has started appearing on the seas. The level of oxygen in the sea is continuously decreasing, which is becoming a matter of concern and life is in danger due to the large amount of polluting elements in the seawater in the coastal areas.
