Kolkata Police Announces Traffic Changes for PM Modi's Rally Today: Check Affected Routes

The Kolkata Traffic Police have released a traffic advisory detailing road closures, diversions, and alternative routes in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's major roadshow on May 28 and 29. This visit to West Bengal precedes the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.

A notification on social media platform X (Old Twitter) reads, "Traffic Notification in connection with the visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to the city of Kolkata on 28.05.2024 and 29.05.2024."

PM Modi's Schedule Prime Minister Modi is set to arrive in West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon. He will address a public meeting in Ashoknagar, Barasat constituency, at 2:30 p.m., followed by another rally in Jadavpur at 4:00 p.m. Later, around 5:55 p.m., he will pay tribute to the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose and lead a 2.5 km roadshow in Kolkata.

Traffic Restrictions The advisory specifies that all types of goods vehicles will be restricted in certain areas of Kolkata from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, or until PM Modi's visit concludes. Parking regulations will also be in effect during these times.

Moreover, Biddhan Sarani will be closed to all vehicles from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heavy goods vehicles will be restricted near Raj Bhawan from 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
