Kolkata: Police have arrested a man for allegedly possessing heroin worth Rs 6.7 crore in West Bengal's capital Kolkata. Kolkata Police, in collaboration with the anti-FICN team of the Special Task Force (STF), intercepted a man from seven tank lanes on Friday. The accused, identified as 46-year-old Pran Basak, a resident of Sahebganj in Jharkhand, will be produced at LD Special Judge NDPS Court, Bithar Bhawan, Calcutta on Saturday. Earlier today, the case of keeping brown sugar in Kolkata came to light. The Siliguri police said three persons have been arrested for illegally supplying the banned material and 593 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 1.15 crore have been seized. According to information provided by the police, the three persons have been identified as Shekhawat Biswas, Abdul Majeed and Ashima Akram.
