In the rapid format, the previous world chess champion Konaru Hampi has been selected as the best BCC Indian women player of the year. Humpy, who became a grandmaster at just 15 years old, was accompanied by women wrestler Vinesh Phogat, runner beat sprinter Dutee Chand, shooter Manu Bhaker, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, and hockey captain Rani Rampal which was nominated by a 40-member jury last month. Hampi was voted the most by fans. According to media reports, Hampi said that this award is important not only for him but for the whole chess world. Chess does not get popular like cricket due to being an indoor game. Hopefully, chess is going to grab the attention of more people. Anju Bobby George, the only Indian athlete to win a World Time Achievement Award at the World Championships this year, won the long jump medal in 2003.
