Ranchi: 16 Jharkhand labourers who had been kept captive in Andhra Pradesh's Ice Island have been released. They were all lured to Andhra Pradesh by a contractor who promised good job, but they were forced to labour for 15 to 18 hours without being paid. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was informed of the situation and asked the state's labour department to take urgent action. After then, the state's Pravasi Control Room communicated with Andhra Pradesh's authorities. Raids were performed by the Andhra Pradesh Police and the Labor Department, and all of the labourers were rescued. The State Pravasi Control Room took the initiative and compensated the labourers 48,000/- for 15 days. On the morning of December 2nd, all the labourers departed Vijayawada station by train towards Jharkhand.
