Lalu Yadav from Saran against Rohini Acharya: A Namesake in the Election Fray

Patna: In Saran, Bihar, a new contender has emerged in the electoral battlefield, grabbing headlines for an unexpected reason. None other than Lalu Yadav himself has stepped into the election arena against Rohini Acharya. Yes, you heard it right. This Lalu Yadav, known for contesting elections from ward councilor to the President's post, has decided to re-enter the political arena.

However, this Lalu Yadav is not Rohini's father; he is another individual with the same name. Meet Lalu Prasad Yadav, a resident of the Marhaura assembly constituency in the Saran Lok Sabha constituency. He is best known for sharing his name with the prominent political figure Lalu Prasad Yadav. Since 2001, he has been contesting elections, ranging from village ward to MLA, MLC, and MP. He has even attempted to file his nomination for the Presidential elections twice. While he has previously contested elections as an independent candidate, this time, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he has filed his nomination under the banner of the Rashtriya Jan Sambhavana Party (RJP).

Despite his repeated attempts, Lalu Prasad Yadav has not tasted electoral success so far. Despite facing defeat every time, he continues to stand for elections, driven by his unwavering courage.

Entering every election with doubled enthusiasm, Lalu Prasad Yadav remains undeterred by past failures. He firmly believes that this time, victory is within his grasp. He is confident that people, having witnessed RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and the current MP for the past decade, will choose him this time.

Comparing himself to Lalu Yadav, the RJD supremo, who has 7 daughters and 2 sons, Lalu Prasad Yadav has 5 sons and 2 daughters, making him only two children less than his namesake. He intends to continue contesting elections until the public crowns him victorious.

In the Lok Sabha elections, voting for the Saran Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for the sixth phase, which falls on May 20th. Nominations in Saran commenced on April 26th. RJD candidate Rohini Acharya will file her nomination from this seat on April 29th.
