South Africa appoints former all-rounder as assistant batting coach

Cape Town: The South African team has appointed former team-veteran all-rounder Lance Klusener as assistant coach for the upcoming T20 match against India. The three-match T20 series is scheduled to take place in September. Cricket South Africa appointed former fast bowler Vincent Burns as assistant bowling coach. Justin Ontong will continue to be assistant fielding coach.

"Under the new structure of the team, the team director has appointed three assistant coaches who have mastered three different disciplines in bowling, batting and fielding," said Corey Van Jill, executive director of CSA. Former South African all-rounder Lance Klujner will be the assistant batting coach for the T20 series, as he is not available for all formats. Lance Klusener has scored 1906 runs and taken 80 wickets in test matches.

Chasing a victory target of 3576 runs, the visitors were bundled out for 192 in the stipulated 20 overs. Burns was the team's bowling and then assistant coach from 2003 to 2011. Ontong, on the other hand, has long been South Africa's fielding coach. The South African team will also play the three-match Test series after the three-match T20 series beginning September 15 in India. The Indian team is currently on a visit to The Widinj. Team India has defeated the hosts in THE ODI and T20 series. The two-Test series has begun from Thursday.
