Kia's new subcompact SUV to compete with Hyundai Venue

Pictures of the prototype model of Kia's next upcoming subcompact SUV (codenamed QYI) have arrived. The tough competition of Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is seen in Kia's domestic market in South Korea. The company may introduce it in the Indian market in 2020. It is currently a pre-production model seen in the pictures and is believed to be launched at the Auto Expo 2020. The company can then offer it in the second half of 2020 on the festive season.

In these photos, not much information about its design has been revealed, but it seems a small version of Kia Seltos. Kia's new subcompact SUV may be slightly smaller than the Hyundai Venue. This car, seen during testing, has been given steel wheels and silver roof rails and ORVMs. With this, thin SUV headlamps, LED daytime running lamps and LED tail lamps will be provided in this SUV. The SUV will come with Kia's signature Tiger nose grille and can be given two-tone roof and customization options.

Talking about the powertrain option, the upcoming Kia Celtos SUV can get a turbocharged 1.0 liter GDI petrol engine present in the Hyundai Venue. With this, it can be given a 1.5 liter diesel engine, which is available in Celtos. These engines come with both manual and automatic transmission options. Kia QYI can also be provided with UVO connect with the touchscreen infotainment system.
