Leopard skin racket busted in Odisha, 7 arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha  The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Friday busted a racket in leopard skin smuggling and arrested seven persons in Sambalpur district.

According to the report, police seized four leopard skin and arrested seven persons allegedly involved in smuggling of banned items.

After receiving tip a team of STF raided a lodge at Kuchinda in Sambalpur district where seven people were planning to sale the leopard skin.  The accused were identified as Sanjay Bagh, Sunil Kallu, Dusraj Patel, Jhulaketan Naik and Kailash Majhi of Laikara in Jharsuguda and Minaketan Mundu and Kumad Bara of Mahulpulli in Sambalpur.

Crime Branch DSP Bilasini Nayak said the seven persons were arrested under Wild Life (protection) Act, 1972 and other sections of IPC. The Police official said they were interrogating the arrested persons to get further information on the involvement of other persons and inter-state trade.
