Indian soldier killed in African country Congo

NEW DELHI: An Indian Army jawan posted in the African country congo has been killed. Indian Army Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Solanki was posted as a military staff officer in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) under the UN peacekeeping mission. He died of drowning in the lake. He went to Kayaking in Lake Kivu. Where this accident took place. The UN peacekeeping mission said its ally was drowning and lost pride in rescuing it. His body was found six days later.

Lt Col Solanki had been missing since Saturday afternoon. A search operation was launched after that. The UN office in Congo is known as Monsco. Deputy Special Representative francois Griganon of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Solanki's dedication. He said Gaurav worked to convey the un-message to the congoleshe families. Under the Mission, 2,613 Indian troops are currently serving in Monsco.

Lt Col Gaurav Solanki was scheduled to return to India on September 16. On his return, he was scheduled to join his regiment in India in the next few days. Congo is known to have a lake on the border with Rwanda called Kivu, one of the 10 deepest lakes in the world. The lake is said to have a depth of up to 400 m and the methane gas is released from under it.
