Uttar Pradesh: Yogi govt will give allowance to people affected by curfew

Lucknow: UP government to provide alimony of 1,000 rupees for a month to poor and weaker sections of the society. About one crore beneficiaries will include small shopkeepers, daily wage labourers, rickshaw/e-rickshaw drivers, barbers, washermen, cobblers, confectioners etc. The Yogi Adityanath government has extended corona curfew till May 24 and announced free ration for three months to eligible Antyodaya and domestic ration card holders. Community kitchens for the poor will also continue to be operational.

A government spokesperson said, 'The decision has been taken in view of the hardships being faced by the poor and needy in the situation arising out of corona. This will benefit about 15 crore people of the state'.  Meanwhile, the state government has said that online classes will start from May 20 in all educational institutions except basic education category.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath will visit Gautam Budh Nagar district today. In addition, he can also visit several other areas of western Uttar Pradesh. The CM will examine the situation of corona virus infection in these districts and review the action being taken to prevent it. District Information Officer Rakesh Chauhan said on Saturday that the CM will reach Gautam Budh Nagar around 10.30 am on Sunday. Here, he will hold a meeting with the people's representatives. He said the CM will hold a review meeting with the officers posted in the district to review the preparedness to prevent corona infection.
