Then 1000 years later, the divine man Lord Chitragupta appeared from the body of Brahma. Chitragupta was called Kayastha due to being born from the body of Brahma. Lord Chitragupta is also called the scribe of Yamaraja. They carry pen, dawat, karwal and book in his arms. He keeps an account of the life and death of all living beings. On that basis, Yamraj punishes or punishes them.

नृप सौदास अनर्थी, था अति बलवाला. आपकी कृपा द्वारा, सुरपुर पग धारा॥
भक्ति भाव से यह आरती जो कोई गावे. मनवांछित फल पाकर सद्गति पावे॥
