Ludhiana Division leads in GST collection rate in Punjab

CHANDIGARH:  The Ludhiana division continues to dominate in both collection and growth rate for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Punjab during the first eight months of this fiscal year, the government reported on Sunday.

Up till the end of November, the division reported net GST revenue of Rs 3,354 crore, representing a growth rate of 23.17 percent over the same period in FY 2021–22.

A Taxation Department spokesperson said  Ludhiana-II collected the most GST revenue, totaling Rs 1,018 crore, while Ludhiana-V led the division with a growth rate of 48.18% among the division's six districts.

According to the spokesperson, the Patiala division maintained second place with a growth rate of 25.99%, while Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Faridkot, and Ropar divisions registered growth rates of 19.42, 19.39, 17.11, 9.45, and 2.49 percent, respectively, for the total GST revenue recorded by the Taxation Department's various divisions through November as compared to the same period of the previous fiscal.

With a net GST collection of Rs 2,002 crore, the Ropar division came in second, behind Jalandhar, Amritsar, Faridkot, Patiala, and Ferozepur, whose net GST collections were, respectively, Rs 1,420.33 crore, Rs 885.71 crore, Rs 872.43 crore, Rs 700.42 crore, and Rs 364.3 crore.
