CM Kamal Nath gets big relief, assembly adjourns till 26 March

Kamal Nath has asked the governor to seek a moratorium on the majority test, saying that some of his legislators have been "held captive" and that the floor test should be held only when all the MLAs are free.

Governor Lalji Tandon had instructed the assembly speaker to conduct a floor test. After this, CM Kamal Nath replied to his letter to the Governor on Monday. Kamal Nath in his letter also referred to the decision of the Supreme Court in terms of Article 175 (2) of the Constitution. The Supreme Court had provided for this in the case of Deputy Speaker of Rebia and Bamang V. Arunachal Pradesh. The Supreme Court explained the relationship between the Governor and the Legislative Assembly in this decision.
