The 38th edition of National Games is currently ongoing in Uttarakhand, India’s very own multi-sport event that has been inspired by the Olympics. Athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) are competing in 32 different sports. The overall winner in the National games will be awarded with Raja Bhalindra Singh Trophy for each edition, with the Champion state declared based on the points scored. Currently, the medals table is led by Karnataka with a tally of 54 medals that includes 28 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze. Madhya Pradesh is leaving a mark at the ongoing National Games. The state is ensuring a continuous winning streak in various sports, ranking third in the medals table. Till now, the state has clinched 17 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals taking its tally to 34 medals, solidifying its position. Madhya Pradesh’s day at rowing Until recently, it was Madhya Pradesh’s day at the Rowing competition where the team secured the first position winning six gold and four bronze medals adding to the tally with more medals. The three- day rowing event had competition between 20 teams, intensely dominated by Madhya Pradesh and State Services team. In the competition first four repeat charges were held, and the final competitions included scull, double scull, pair scull, quadruple scull, coxless pair, and light weight double scull categories respectively. In the competition, the women’s team of Madhya Pradesh secured six golds, while the State Service control board won five gold medals in the men’s category. Haryana clinched one gold and four silver medals, Kerala finished with one gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Uttarakhand managed to get two silver and one bronze medal, Odisha with two silver medal, Maharashtra with one silver and one bronze each and Uttar Pradesh with one silver in the sequence. The others including Andaman and Nicobar, Manipur, Meghalaya, Punjab and Tamil Nadu ended up with a bronze each. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav congratulated the athletes on social media platform X for their brilliant performance at the National Games. National games 2025 also features some of the biggest names of Indian sports: Lovlina Borgohain (Boxing), Swapnil Kusale, Sarabjot Singh and Vijay Kumar (Shooting), Tajinderpal Singh (Shot put), Parul Chaudhary (3000m steeplechase) among others. Started from 28th January, the National Games is becoming a grand event of the country, witnessing some of the finest performances. As the event progresses further, it is surely going to be great till the commencement.
