Madra High Court legal against illegal hoarding

Madras is tired of illegal hoardings in the city, Madras High Court concerned over the menace of illegal hoarding, and noted that the only way to control the issue was by making it monetarily unattractive and initiating criminal action against the violators. Petitioner K. Muthukrishnan PIL in the Madras High Court seeking to remove illegal hoarding in Chennai, and the Bench made an observation over the issue.

The Bench headed by Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and M.M. Sundresh said “We believe that prima facie the owners of the properties who have earned revenue by giving licence to put up the hoardings should be called upon to deposit the whole amount in the court.”

Directing the authorities to ensure proper action against the violators, the Bench issued bailable warrant against three persons facing action for such violation.
