Madras High Court directs state election commission

The state election commission has been directed by the Madras High Court today to hold the local body elections by before May 14. The decision is directed by the Justices Nooty Ramamohana Rao and S.M Subramaniam.

The state civic polls were scheduled to be conducted on 17 and 18 October. On September 2016 justice N Kirubakaran set aside an election notification issued by the SEC.

Though, later he directed the panel to issue a notification and complete the election process by December,31,2016.
