Magnum Opus 'Jai Bhim' and 'Marakkar' miss Oscar nominations

The praised by critics Tamil legal drama 'Jai Bhim,' directed by Tha Se Gnanavel, and Priyadarshan's Malayalam war picture 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham,' both missed out on nominations for the 94th Academy Awards, which were announced on Tuesday.

'Belfast,' 'Coda,' 'Don't Look Up,' 'Drive My Car,' 'Dune,'King Richard,'Licorice Pizza,'Nightmare Alley,'The Power of the Dog,' and 'West Side Story' are among the films nominated in this category.

Five films were nominated in the International Feature Film category. 'Drive My Car' (Japan), 'Flee' (Denmark), 'The Hand of God' (Italy), 'Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom' (Bhutan), and 'The Worst Person in the World' are among the films that made the cut (Norway). Indian fans were upset since that day, a prominent US scribe's tweet had sparked expectations that 'Jai Bhim' would make the cut. That, however, was not to be.
