Ujjain: The festival of Mahashivaratri is being celebrated today. Devotees are visiting temples in large numbers since morning to worship Lord Bholenath. Among the 12 Jyotirlingas, the excitement of Shiva Navaratri in the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple is considered to be the most special form of Lord Shiva. The doors have been opened here from 2:30 am today. Baba Mahakal Bhasma Aarti was followed at 4 o'clock in the morning. The doors have been opened for the common devotees from 6 in the morning
People come from far in large number to visit here on the day of Mahashivratri. The temple doors will remain open for 28 hours. Devotees are seen in long lines here. The temple management has also taken special care of the devotees. A carpet has been laid on the road and tarpaulin tents have been installed to avoid sunlight. Along with this, drinking water arrangements have also been made for the devotees standing in lines.
To make sure a limited number of enthusiasts in the temple and to avoid the spread of corona, the people who have made a booking will only be able to see Baba Mahakal. The number of visitors here is also limited to 25 thousand.
