Maharashtra cabinet expansion to take place soon: Fadnavis

Maharashtra state cabinet expansion would be completed shortly, according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who made the announcement a day after the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government won the Assembly's vote of confidence.

Fadnavis today underlined his commitment to the development of the state's Vidarbha area in remarks to reporters at the Nagpur airport. The cabinet expansion would be finished soon, Fadnavis said.

Following the establishment of the new administration in the state, BJP workers gave the deputy CM and his wife Amruta Fadnavis a warm welcome when they arrived in Nagpur. The BJP leader left the airport for a "jallosh yatra" (victory celebration) that his supporters had planned locally.

Shinde started an uprising against the Sena last month. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray fell because the majority of MLAs supported him.

Eknath Shinde was inducted as the new chief minister of Maharashtra on June 30, while Fadnavis was sworn in as the new deputy chief minister. Shinde said he would require some time after winning the trust vote on Monday before he and Fadnavis discussed the distribution of cabinet posts.
