Maharashtra Govt Takes Steps to Fill 1.53 Lakh Vacant Posts and Empower Women

The Maharashtra government has started filling 1.53 lakh vacant positions to provide more employment opportunities for the youth. As of now, 78,309 posts have already been filled. In addition, the state is working to address 6,931 vacancies under the PESA Act, which are based on honorarium, pending a decision from the Supreme Court.

In February 2024, Maharashtra entered into a partnership with the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany to bring in 10,000 skilled workers to meet local demand.

To support women, the Maharashtra government has also launched the Mukhyamantri Mazi Ladki Bahin Scheme. This initiative benefits over 2.34 crore women between the ages of 21 and 65, offering them a monthly payment of Rs 1,500. Five monthly installments, from July to November 2024, have already been disbursed.

The state has also announced that Marathi will now be recognized as a classical language by the Central Government. This new status will help set up dedicated research centers for Marathi in 450 universities across the country. Additionally, the Central Government will allocate more funds for the preservation and conservation of the Marathi language.

Recent studies reveal that several large-scale infrastructure projects, such as Atal Setu and Samruddhi Mahamarg, which have significant potential to generate employment, were stalled during the tenure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, consisting of the INC, NCP, and Shiv Sena. The current NDA government has criticized the MVA for delaying these projects for personal gains.

After taking office, the NDA government has worked to fast-track these stalled projects, contributing to economic growth and benefiting the general public. In the past two years, the state has invested approximately Rs 8 lakh crore in infrastructure development.

The state is also working on multiple initiatives to improve connectivity between districts and cities, further solidifying its position as a growing IT hub, tourist destination, and financial center. These projects are generating substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities across the state.

Maharashtra Leads in Startup Growth

Maharashtra’s innovative policies, such as the Fintech policy and the establishment of a dedicated Fintech Hub in Mumbai, have fostered a thriving startup ecosystem. The state ranks among the top five in India for startup performance, maintaining its leading position in the 'Outlook Start-Up Outperformers 2023' rankings. Each district in the state is home to at least 10 startups.

Employment Growth Under NDA Leadership

Under the NDA government, employment opportunities have seen a significant rise compared to the MVA administration. Since the NDA took charge in August 2022, the creation of government jobs has increased by 123%. While the MVA government created just 25,782 government jobs between 2019 and 2022, the NDA has generated approximately 57,452 state government jobs from 2022 to 2024.
